    Salah satu finalis dan pemenang lomba Indonesia Furniture Design Competition (IFDC)  kedua, Suskariyanto menyebut tak melulu style menjadi fokus dalam berkarya. Ia justru menyebutkan faktor pricing, efisiensi dan kombinasi bahan mentah dan loadability di dalam petikemas harus juga dipertimbangkan masak-masak oleh seorang desainer.

    “Dari dulu saya ingin menciptakan sebuah mebel yang dapat diperbesar atau diperkecil ukurannya, dengan system yang sederhana namun belum pernah terpikirkan sebelumnya, dan akhirnya saya berhasil,” ujar Bondan Harnoko Soenggono sambil menunjuk kursi Monggo. Kursi karyanya yang sangat inovatif itu berhasil menyabet penghargaan “the most innovative” dalam Indonesia Furniture Design Competition yang pertama.

    Meet our first Indonesia Furniture Design Competition Champion, Devi Khoirudin. Devi, penyabet dua kategori penghargaan dengan karya KUNO chair melihat Sumber Daya Manusia Indonesia terutama dalam bidang desain mebel tidak kalah dibanding koleganya asal Singapura, tempatnya bermukim selama lima tahun. Itu sebabnya ia memutuskan mudik pada tahun 2009, apalagi sebagian karya desain Singapura diproduksi disini. Itu sebabnya ia yakin disini jauh lebih baik dibanding dengan negeri jiran. “Mungkin kelebihan mereka dalam komunikasi dan pengemasannya,” jelasnya.

     

  • Desain Yang Bagus Harus Bisa Menjual

    Egbert Pos, lelaki asal Belanda ini memang luar biasa. Sejak berapa tahun lalu, ia tertarik memanfaatkan kayu limbah sebagai bahan baku bagi karya-karya-nya. Berawal dari panel finger joint, karya-karyanya pun kian berkembang. Dari tangannya lahir kayu panel kubik 3 dimensi dan kursi duduk yang keseluruhannya menggunakan stick kayu limbah. Bahkan sejumlah meja yang menggunakan bekas balas kereta api dan kayu yang sudah membusuk. Ia juga menjadi inventor bagi invicible hinges yang digunakan dalam mewujudkan karyanya.
